Four aims of life

There are four aims of life. These are called purusharthas.

They are:

1. Dharma means performing all actions and fulfilling all your duties with integrity and righteousness, such as, taking care of yourself, partner, children, parents.

2. Artha is acquiring sufficient means so that the bare necessities of life do not distract from the goal of Self Realization.

3. Kama refers joyous and pleasurable activities that are healthy and sustainable, such as, recreational activities, reading, gardening, etc.

4. Moksha refers to the effort you put in with the intention to know yourself at all levels and understand the mysteries of life and death.
